On March 17, 2025, Strategy announced the purchase of 130 BTC, raising its total holdings to 499,226 BTC. Despite market volatility, the company demonstrates a strong commitment to Bitcoin as its main treasury asset through its purchasing activities.

A History of Aggressive Accumulation

Strategy has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings through major strategic acquisitions over the years. In January 2025, the company acquired 10,107 Bitcoins for $1.1 billion, raising its total reserves to 471,107 Bitcoins at an average cost of $105,596 per coin. It bought 7,633 BTC for $742 million at an average price of $97,255 per BTC in the first week of February. The most recent purchase involved 130 BTC as well as 20,000 BTC bought for $2 billion in the last week of February. Between January 27 and February 2025, the company paused Bitcoin procurement, yet its cryptocurrency portfolio value rose to $46.7 billion from market appreciation.

Strategic Financing for Bitcoin Purchases

Strategy has utilized several financial instruments to fund its extensive Bitcoin investment program. The company used its 'At-the-Market' equity mechanism to sell shares of Class A common stock, generating billions to buy Bitcoin. It issued $584 million worth of convertible preferred stock through their STRK Nasdaq-traded securities in February 2025. Strategy plans to conduct additional stock offerings, potentially securing $21 billion to purchase more Bitcoin assets.

Looking Ahead: Strategy’s Position in the Crypto Market

The company continues to influence the cryptocurrency market as it approaches its target of acquiring half a million Bitcoin. Future Bitcoin value appreciation motivates the company to employ financial engineering methods to fund its acquisitions. Future business decisions for the company may depend on how investors react to its stock dilution and market valuation performance. Strategy moves toward becoming the biggest institutional Bitcoin holder due to its growing Bitcoin yield and potential funding, positioning the company for further market influence.

Strategy's path to half a million Bitcoin underscores its ambition to dominate the market and see Bitcoin as a long-term investment solution.
