Blockchain-based identity verification company Worldcoin has dropped its 'coin' moniker, becoming simply 'World.' Founder Sam Altman announced the change during a keynote speech on October 17.

Worldcoin rebranded as 'World,' with the announcement live-streamed on YouTube on October 17. The rebranding was instantly reflected across the company's social media accounts.
New Orb Device and Enhanced Features
World introduced a new version of the Orb biometric scanning device, which is now five times more efficient and powered by Nvidia hardware. The device will be available in self-service kiosks in select regions.

New Verification Methods and Users
World will implement new verification methods, including identity verification through NFC-enabled passports via the World ID Credentials program. Additionally, World ID Deep Face service aims to solve deepfake issues.
Currently, 15 million users have registered for the World app service, with 7 million of them verified. The company's initiatives are focused on enhancing secure identity verification and expanding user capabilities.
