Bitcoin (BTC) reached its highest value since April 2022, breaking the $44,000 mark last weekend. However, the BTC rate fell below this level on the night of December 11 due to active profit-taking by investors.
Since the beginning of 2023, according to Binance Research, the total value of digital currencies has grown by 110%, reaching $870 billion. The largest increase (+55%) was recorded in the fourth quarter.
After a lull since 2021, investments in cryptocurrencies have increased, indicating a return of optimism among investors. The increase in the capitalization of stablecoins suggests traders are ready to buy BTC and other cryptocurrencies.
From January to November 2023, the value of assets locked in DeFi increased by 25%. Ethereum maintains its leadership in the number of DeFi projects. Bitcoin's market capitalization in 2023 increased by 162%. Ecosystems such as Solana (SOL) and Toncoin (TON) also showed significant growth, as noted by Binance Research.
