In November 2023, a record high in cyber attack losses was reached, amounting to $343 million, according to a report by the ImmuneFi platform.
Experts note that this is 15.4 times higher than the losses in October, which amounted to $22.19 million. The majority of these losses, over 53%, were in the CeFi sector, where losses totaled $184 million. Major breaches, including Poloniex, Heco Chain, KyberSwap, HTX, and Kronos Research, have been extensively covered earlier.
In the context of ecosystem attacks, the BNB Chain leads with 22 attacks, followed by Ethereum with 12 attacks. These two blockchains together account for over 83% of the total loss volume. Interestingly, the share of losses from scam projects is only 2.2% of the total damage, with the rest being hacks.
Since the beginning of 2023, the total losses of cryptocurrency projects from cybersecurity-related incidents have reached $1.75 billion. ImmuneFi recorded 296 such cases. The largest losses were recorded in March, July, September, and November, while January showed the least losses, just over $21 million.
