The Ethereum Ethereum layer 2 network, zkSync, has announced the launch of a pre-game event, which is rumored to be linked to the anticipated zkSync token zkSync airdrop. This long-awaited event could happen as early as tomorrow, causing significant excitement in the cryptocurrency community. The announcement was made on the X platform, where zkSync urges users to turn on notifications and follow the ZK Nation community account dedicated to the development and security of the zkSync protocol.

The pre-game event is set to begin tomorrow, but specific details remain unknown, which only fuels participants' interest. The excitement surrounding the potential zkSync token airdrop is palpable within the community. The airdrop is expected to be officially announced this month and will feature a total supply of 21 billion tokens. However, the choice of the token ticker symbol has sparked some controversy.

zkSync intends to use the ticker "ZK", but this has caused issues as the Polyhedra Network has already claimed it. Despite this, zkSync may proceed with the ZK ticker, noting that Binance has not yet listed the Polyhedra token. Prominent figures in the ZK proof ecosystem, such as Shafi Goldwasser, Silvio Micali, Sandeep Nailwal, Brendan Farmer, and Eli Ben-Sasson, have collectively criticized zkSync's attempt to use the ZK ticker. After prolonged discussions, Matter Labs, the company behind zkSync, decided to withdraw all trademark applications for the term "ZK".

Additionally, zkSync recently completed the update of version 24 of its zkSync Era software on the mainnet. This latest release introduces several improvements aimed at enhancing the security and functionality of the Ethereum layer 2 scaling solution. All these changes and announcements make this a crucial time for everyone following the development of zkSync and the anticipated token airdrop.
