A token built on the Ordinals protocol from the Honey Badger collection was sold for 10.4 BTC (450,000 dollars). This set a new record in this field.
The Ordinals protocol allows for creating unique ordinal numbers for individual satoshis and attaching data to them through TapRoot. This technology is used to create Bitcoin collectible NFTs known as "inscriptions."
The market for digital art items based on the Ordinals protocol continues to grow. In December 2023, the auction house Sotheby's announced the auction of tokens from the BitcoinShrooms collection.
The Honey Badger collection became one of the first collections, including approximately 10,000 "inscriptions" with ordinal numbers ranging from 8 to 1,029,518. One of these "inscriptions" was successfully sold for 10.4 BTC.
A user on the social network X (formerly Twitter) with the username OG General acquired a digital art item with the ordinal number 8 from this collection. The transaction took place on the Magic Eden marketplace.
As a reminder, we previously reported that a Bitcoin Core developer speculated the possibility of the disappearance of Ordinals.
