MegaLabs Raises $20M for MegaETH's Real-Time Blockchain
MegaLabs, the mastermind behind the innovative Ethereum scaling protocol MegaETH, has recently announced a successful $20 million seed funding round. This round was led by Dragonfly Capital and aims to propel the development of MegaETH, with the launch of a testnet anticipated in the near future.
Funding Details
Apart from Dragonfly Capital, other prominent investors who participated in the funding round include Figment Capital, Folius Ventures, Robot Ventures, Big Brain Holding, Tangent, and Credibly Neutral. Angel investors who showed their support for MegaETH's vision included Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin, EigenLayer creator Sreeram Kannan, and Hasu from Flashbots.
Real-Time Blockchain Concept
MegaETH is pioneering the concept of a "real-time blockchain" that prioritizes processing transactions instantly upon receipt. The protocol sets an ambitious target of handling 100,000 transactions per second, emphasizing millisecond-level responsiveness.
Co-founder Yilong Li elucidated that a real-time blockchain operation processes transactions immediately upon arrival, generating results at a remarkably high frequency. MegaETH's success in achieving this feat can be attributed to its heterogeneous blockchain architecture, enabling performance enhancement by allowing nodes with diverse hardware configurations to specialize in specific tasks.
EVM Execution Environment
Furthermore, the protocol leverages a hyper-optimized EVM execution environment to improve throughput, latency, and resource efficiency to the hardware thresholds. The EVM execution environment serves as a blockchain operating system that is fully compatible with Ethereum's programming standards.
Vision Inspired by Vitalik Buterin
The inception of MegaETH was inspired by Vitalik Buterin's insightful blog post "Endgame" from 2021, where he discussed the critical aspect of scaling Ethereum. Buterin underlined the significance of hyper-scalable EVM implementations to achieve genuine scalability for Ethereum.
In a statement conveyed by a representative from MegaLabs, Buterin expressed his enthusiasm for the MegaETH project and commended the developers for embarking on this remarkable journey.
