"Munchables", an NFT game, recently encountered an incident where more than 17,400 Ethereum (ETH) was stolen by one of its developers. Thankfully, the assets were returned without a ransom, leading the developer to introduce new security protocols to prevent similar occurrences.
To bolster security, "Munchables" has enlisted new signatories for multisig contracts, such as investment company "Manifold Trading", market strategist "Selini Capital", and blockchain expert "ZachXBT". Furthermore, specialists from these organizations will inspect and enhance contracts, as well as supervise future recruitment processes.
In preparation for its relaunch, the platform will undergo an audit by Ethereum infrastructure enterprise "Nethermind". Returning users will have the opportunity to receive greater rewards, while financial assistance will be extended to those involved in the restoration efforts.
"Munchables" urges users to avoid engagement with refund portals, as refunds will be directly transferred to their wallets. In March alone, almost $100 million worth of digital assets were embezzled, with more than 30 cyberattacks taking place. Despite these incidents, 52.8% of the pilfered funds were recovered. The incident at "Munchables" ranks among the top five security breaches in terms of monetary loss.
