The International Criminal Police Organization is preparing to work with the Metaverse, expanding the list of its capabilities. The launch of augmented reality is designed for law enforcement agencies around the world. The idea for the development of the police in the Metaverse was the emergence of various criminals in this network who are engaged in fraud, extremism and disinformation.
Since the Metaverses are gaining popularity and attracting more and more people, accordingly, the crime rate will increase. Thus, Interpol wants to protect its users from a number of illegal actions of criminals.
It is worth noting that cases have already happened, where MetaVerse members have been punished for their actions. For example, in September, a South Korean man was sentenced to 4 years for molesting children and forcing them to send photos and videos.
Interpol noted that they want to create a whole department to combat crypto-crime, since ordinary law enforcement agencies cannot always withstand the difficulties in this sector.
Previously, news appeared that in memory of the boxer Muhammad Ali, the NFT trademark was registered and goods were added to the Metaverse.
