What is Illuvium (ILV)?
The project's world is inhabited by creatures, known as Illuvials, which can be captured by players who are the best in combat and tend them to health. Since then, they have become a loyal part of the player's collection and can be used when fighting other adventurers as part of Illuvium's gameplay. The game - a fusion between an open world game and a PVP combat game. Players can spend time, exploring the vastness of the game world or creating their own team of powerful beasts.
The project has been in development since 2020 and is being built by a worldwide team of over 40 people, including co-founders serial entrepreneur and early crypto adopter Kieran Warwick and seasoned game designer Aaron Warwick, who are brothers. The ILV token has a number of uses in the Illuvium ecosystem. This is the primary token, used to reward players for their in-game achievements, entitles players to their stake in the Illuvium Vault and helps to participate in game governance through the Illuvium Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).
How does the game work?
Although Illuvium has blockchain-based elements, it feels more like a full-fledged video game. It is accessed via a downloadable desktop app, but also has a number of DeFi-enabled apps surrounding it, including a yield farm and a decentralized exchange.
Players roam the landscape of Illuvium, fighting Illuvials and other players, participating in quests and daily challenges, and participating in its overall storyline. Throughout their journey, they collect illuvials, which have a number of characteristics that make them variable in their rarity, usefulness and desirability. These include:

They are mainly obtained from in-game purchases of items, crafting components, cosmetics and a shard. 100% of this income is distributed as a reward to those who stake ILV tokens through the ILV buyback system.
