Based on Nozama, the Plastiks, platform will be a blockchain-based marketplace, exclusively driven by the Plastik token for the purpose of single-use packaging (SUP) tracking, so that SUP producers can guarantee their customers that their SUP production will not be released into the environment. This, in turn, will increase traceability in the recycling industry and allow companies to achieve their goals while demonstrating to consumers their commitment to protecting the environment.

Description of the Plastics project
Plastic waste is everywhere and in everything, from the deepest ocean trenches to the highest mountain peaks. And the lack of traceability and accountability in the single-use plastic supply chain is partly to blame for this problem. A new blockchain-based technology allows data to be stored on the blockchain in the form of unique units (NFTs). This data can be anything from a piece of art to a song, and a plastic recovery guarantee now.
Recyclers can mint and sell NFTs on the market, relying on recycler fee data as “recovery guarantees” for single-use packaging (SUP) companies that want to demonstrate their commitment to the environment.
How to buy a token:
| 1. | Go to: https://app.plastiks.io/ and make sure your wallet is connected to the Plastik Marketplace. |
| 2. | Click on the "Get Plastic" button in the lower right corner. |
| 3. | Make sure your wallet is connected to the "CELO" network and select the token you want to exchange for PLASTIK. |
| 4. | Fill in the amount, the number of PLASTIK tokens you will receive will be filled in automatically. |
| 5. | If everything is correct, click “Buy now”. |
The main utility of the token will be to allow recyclers to mint, list and sell NFTs, called single-use packaging guarantees (SUPs). To access these features, you will need a balance of Plastik tokens.
Start of cooperation with Urbaser
Plastiks and Urbaser share a common vision for moving towards a circular economy. Urbaser has already created their first recycling certificate and they will soon be creating their first NFTs, linked to both art data and recycling data. Having the Urbaser on board provides a unique opportunity to expand the platform in an unprecedented way. While the pilot project will initially be limited to 350 tons of recycled polypropylene, there is room for expansion to millions of tons per year. For Urbaser, this partnership represents an exciting innovation for its business as it moves the recycling business into the crypto space.
