Art Gobblers — a decentralized art factory, owned by members on Ethereum. As artists create cool pieces of art, Gobblers take on cultural significance, making collectors want that art more, encouraging artists to create cooler pieces. It is also an online game.
What is special about the Art Gobblers project?
Art Gobblers produce Goo tokens, which help to create the blank pages, needed to add artwork. Goo's offering is growing faster every day, starting in the hundreds and eventually reaching into the billions and more. Thus, the game cannot be balanced by setting fixed prices for items in Goo. Instead, a mechanism, called VRGDA, automatically adjusts prices over time to reach the desired release schedule, adjusting prices up when sales are ahead of schedule and down when sales are behind schedule.
The protocol targets an initial VRGDA blank page release rate of 69 per day to encourage experimentation, but eventually slows down to a constant 10 per day to ensure a high bar and focused community attention.
Platform tokenomics:
1. | The original Gobbler Mint consists of 2000 fully animated Gobblers. |
2. | Over the next 10 years, players will spend Goo to create another 8,000 Gobblers with VRGDA. |
3. | Release is relatively fast at first to stimulate growth, but slows down and eventually stops to maintain exclusivity. |
These systems can lead to some interesting gameplay as players have to decide when to trade Goo for Gobblers while changing the VRGDA price for everyone else. The gears that make up the Art Gobblers experiment will be final at the time of minting, and will no longer be built. They are designed to power a self-sustaining ecosystem, capable of creating and collecting the coolest art in the universe without the need for human intervention.
Goo is an ERC20 Ethereum token, issued by NFT ArtGobblers. Because Goo is needed to create new blank pages, ArtGobblers ultimately determine what art can be created in the ecosystem, and thus act as co-curators of the decentralized art gallery.
Other work details
Art Gobblers exists to help to create and collect the coolest art in the universe. Artists can create freehand drawings with a drawing tool that runs on desktops, iPads or Cintiqs.
The drawing tool records the entire creation process, and when you visit the artwork in the ArtGobblers web app, you can replay the drawing process line by line.
Once ArtGobblers is launched, artists will be able to mint their own drawings as 1/1 NFTs, using in-game resources. This process is called glazing. These NFTs, belonging to the Art Gobblers Pages collection, are ERC721 NFTs, owned by the artist. Like any other NFT, they can be transferred or sold by the artist at will.
The creation of these art pages — the main task of the Art Gobblers ecosystem. Because the number of pages that can be created in a given time period is limited by the VRGDA mechanism, any art featured on a page will benefit from the cultural relevance of Art Gobblers and the attention of the Art Gobblers community.
To draw on a page, you need a blank NFT page, which can be created with Goo.
