CivD - a 4X strategy ("eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate") on the Ethereum blockchain in a multi-user form. Since the entire game is played on the blockchain, it is not turn-based or real-time, but a so-called time-based strategy game. Contents:
Gameplay guide of the CivD
Your units can move or attack without waiting for their turn, but have a cooldown that must be completed before they are ready again. Since this is not a real-time game, the game moves more slowly, so you usually just open the game to perform a few actions and then press Alt-Tab while waiting for the cooldown time. This is a 3D browser game that uses the Ethereum blockchain, so you need a web browser, preferably Google Chrome, with a Metamask plugin and a decent graphics card. Some knowledge about strategy games and Ethereum will come in handy as well.
There are several ways to make ETH in this game, the most important is the exchange of resources with other players. In the next update, you will also be able to create an alliance of players, earning a buy-in from each candidate if desired.
Where to begin?
You will start by choosing a map ( only a choice between ropsten and mainnet currently) and finding a suitable settlement for colonization. Pay attention to the location estimate, which shows how easy it is to gather resources in this area. Try to score 50 points or higher, you need to choose a settlement adjacent to different types of tiles. Plains for farms and forests are most useful early on, mineral deposits are more desirable late in the game. If you are not satisfied with your current location, click “find another settlement” to find another location. To advance your civilization, you need:
- Firstly, collect resources that will be used to construct buildings, research technologies and prepare units for battle;
- To collect resources, you will need more land to grow them. You can expand your territory by buying tiles near your current territory or by conquering another player's territory. Let's look at the first one first, since we're just getting started;
- You can only buy adjacent tiles to build something else. The further the tile is from your capital, the more expensive it will be.
To buy a tile, click on the tile you want to buy, click the “Colonize” button in the dialog and confirm the metadata in the metamask. You will need different types of tiles to grow different types of resources.
Conquest in the CivD game
Conquest is one of the most effective ways to expand your civilization and join the sale of resources for real ETH. Units can be used to defend your territory, as well as to attack units and territories of other players. When you attack enemy territory and win, you gain ownership of the tile. You can make a quick raid on a resource tile to collect their resources and leave again or try to maintain control and possibly conquer all tiles in that territory if your attack power is strong enough. Units have 4 characteristics: health points, attack power, armor and range.
| Health points | They show how much health this unit has, current and maximum. If it reaches zero, then you die. A unit can be healed in its own settlement. |
| Armor | It shows how much a unit benefits from damage reduction when attacking. The higher the better. With enough damage reduction, the unit can become immune to certain attacks. |
| Power | Shows how much damage the unit deals when attacking. |
Range indicates how far a unit can attack. The unit with the longest range in combat gets the opportunity to attack first and possibly defeat the enemy before even being attacked. The strongest squad will always win.
