How to research in PickFlix?
This is the most important part of playing PickFlix. You have to understand films, the market and human nature. Just as the producer of a film must decide whether to spend their time and money on the film, you must ask yourself questions such as:
- Do you personally like the film? Would you watch it?
- Who will pay to see this movie? Potential audience large or small?
- Is this movie based on a proven theme that people like to see (but might be outdated) or is it introducing something new and unique (but maybe not ready for mainstream distribution)?
The internet is full of good resources for such research. Each page of the game will have links to these sources for each specific movie. Examples of resources:
- IMDb;
- Rotten Tomatoes;
- FANDANGO.
These names are trademarks of their respective companies and there is no connection between PickFlix and these companies. All information on these sites belongs exclusively to those sites.
Game process
When you select a movie, you buy a PickFlix token for that movie, using ETH on the Ethereum Blockchain. This token will be stored in your Ethereum wallet. You can make your choice before the release date of the movie. Then support your choice.
Your goal - to find those films that perform better than other players at the box office expected.
Rules of the game
As with any game that requires certain skills, there are rules that you need to know before starting the game. You must first read these rules to understand the game. They are also part of your terms of service agreement:
| Games | On the lobby page, you will find a list of the games that are currently being played. To learn about in-game movies or purchase a movie token, click the game's icon on the lobby page. Each week, PickFlix will determine the number and type of games, which may or may not include every movie, released during that time period. |
| Your research | Use your research and your forecasting skills to determine which movie (s) to purchase. |
| Purchase | To purchase a token, you must have an active and verified MovieMaster account. To create an account, go to the "Create Account" section. Each game will display the date and time until which movie tokens can be purchased. |
| Transfer of tokens | When you buy a token, your Ethereum wallet will ask you to send the corresponding amount of Ether to PickFlix. After completing the transfer, the company will send the corresponding amount of tokens to your Ethereum wallet. |
At the close of each game, PickFlix will deduct an Oracle commission, which is a percentage of the total earned ETH when purchasing all tokens for that Game. This Oracle reward is a payment for managing the game and facilitating the exchange of tokens. Oracle fees can range from 0% to 15%.
