What is Unit.domains?

Unit.domains — a distributed, open and scalable domain name system, based on the Ethereum blockchain. The domain name system allows people to replace long blockchain addresses with short domain names instead of copying or typing long blockchain addresses.

What is Unit.domains?

Unit Domains — a Web3 domain name service system, based on the Ethereum blockchain. The Unit.domains website allows you to request, register and manage domain names. The smart contract runs on ENS (https://ens.domains/) and is modified to support multiple top-level domain names. At the same time, the site also links to ens. Users can view the code on the GitHub website.

As with ENS, the main purpose of Unit Domains - to transfer human-readable and writable domain names (such as test.cat) into addresses that can be recognized by computers or Web3, such as Ethereum addresses, metadata, etc.

Other features:

1. Top level domain names include .cat, .dag, .unit, etc.
2. Users can create subdomain names like test.cat and continue to create further subdomains.
3. Domain name, for example, a.test.cat. etc. between different levels are separated by decimal points. Domain name data is stored on the Ethereum chain and managed through smart contracts.

MetaMask is currently supported and other wallets will be supported in the future. If you have a domain name, you can create multiple subdomains below. However, unlike ENS, transferring ownership of these subdomains to others is not supported.

Users must charge a fee for domain name registration, including the registration fee and rental fee. The registration fee depends on the length of the domain name and is charged only at the time of registration. The shorter the domain, the higher its cost. If a domain name expires, it must be re-registered. However, a domain name can be registered before the expiration date. Therefore, you need to renew the domain name before it expires.

Naming rules

Submit a request to the registry to register a domain name. Wait a while to make sure you don't contradict other people's requests. After completing the registration and payment, add the registration information. The registrant and domain name controller can set the appropriate settings for the domain name.

A domain name controller can create any number of subdomains. Each domain name is separated by a decimal point.Unit.domains

When creating a subdomain, the registration center does not charge registration fees and rental fees, but users must pay the corresponding mining fees (gas fees).
