Comunitaria has created a new way to use digital social currency. This project is called "The Roof that Feeds" and its goal - to create local energy communities in disadvantaged areas, benefiting local trade and their economy.

Comunitaria has a social currency, called ILLA, circulating in the Los Pajaritos area. Started with the "Donation of fresh products from local stores" project and consists of the distribution of social currency in the form of a digital voucher to the most needy residents of the area, in accordance with Caritas criteria. Redistributable vouchers can only help to purchase fresh produce from Comunitaria member stores.
The team installs solar panels on buildings in the poorest neighborhoods and uses the generated solar energy to generate social currency that can help to buy fresh produce from local stores. All this is done to have a positive social impact on people, living in disadvantaged areas.
