Roblox, a well-known proponent of the metaverse, is changing the way it handles remote work. By the summer of 2024, CEO David Baszucki has called for a return to the San Mateo office, signaling a change from a remote-only to a hybrid work model. Employees of Roblox will be required to work three days a week, from Tuesday to Thursday, according to a corporate letter. Although virtual workspaces have potential, Baszucki acknowledged that they are not as engaging and productive as physical workspaces just yet. By January 16, 2024, workers must choose whether to accept the new in-office work arrangement, with some positions continuing to be remote. Roblox's latest move might seem to go against its previous focus on the metaverse.
