Last weekend, the native digital coin of the TRON blockchain (TRX) showed a 17% premium on the Poloniex exchange compared to other trading platforms. Recall that Poloniex is a centralized exchange that was recently subjected to a hacker attack, as a result of which customers lost about $100 million in cryptocurrency. This has created opportunities for traders in the field of arbitrage trading.

According to Poloniex, by December 4, 2023, the difference in exchange rates had decreased to 4%. At 14:00 Moscow time, TRX was trading at $0.1045 on Binance and $0.108 on Poloniex. Arbitrage transactions involve buying an asset on one exchange and quickly selling it at a higher price on another. Such transactions carry risks for traders, as they need to ensure that capital can be moved between platforms.

Last month, Poloniex was hacked, and the damage amounted to more than $114 million. This has become a serious problem for its owner and manager Justin Sun. In response to the incident, the exchange team temporarily froze deposits and withdrawals.

Today, Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron cryptocurrency, told CoinDesk that "withdrawal of TRX funds is allowed, despite the premium on Poloniex."

Analysts note that "the strategy of buying TRX on Binance and selling them on Poloniex may face the fact that some assets will remain blocked for withdrawal. According to the press service of the hacked exchange, the withdrawal of funds will be phased, and first it concerns TRX, and then bitcoins (BTC), ether (ETH) and Tether (USDT)."

Recall that several companies specializing in blockchain security reported the Poloniex hack, which was subsequently confirmed by Justin Sun himself, who promised to compensate the losses of the platform's customers.
