In a shocking case of alleged marital betrayal, Fun Yung Li is accused of stealing approximately 172 million in Bitcoin from her husband, Ping Fai Yuen. According to the assessment of specialists presented in the publication, the incident has drawn significant attention as it highlights the vulnerabilities associated with cryptocurrency ownership and the complexities of personal relationships in the digital age.

Bitcoin Theft Case in the UK High Court

Court documents filed in the UK’s High Court of Justice reveal that Ping Fai Yuen had over 2,323 Bitcoin securely stored on his Trezor hardware wallet in 2023. However, on August 2 of that year, all 2,323 Bitcoin were transferred from his wallet without his consent and subsequently dispersed across 71 different Bitcoin addresses. This alarming transfer came after Ping's daughter warned him in July about his estranged wife's intentions to access his cryptocurrency holdings.

Incriminating Evidence and Arrests

In response to the warning, Ping installed audio recording equipment in his home, which allegedly captured incriminating evidence against Fun. Reports suggest that she, along with her sister, secretly recorded Ping and managed to steal his seed phrase, enabling the unauthorized transfer of funds. Following the discovery of the theft, Ping confronted Fun, which led to his arrest for assault. He later reported the incident to the police, resulting in Fun's arrest, although she was released after a no comment interview.

Legal Actions and Future Proceedings

In November 2025, Ping sought a proprietary asset preservation injunction, aiming to declare ownership of the stolen Bitcoin and freeze Fun's crypto assets. Justice Cotter has indicated a strong likelihood of success for Ping's claim, stressing the urgency of an early trial due to the inherent volatility of Bitcoin.

In a recent incident, Sillytuna revealed a staggering $24 million theft from his crypto wallet, raising serious security concerns in the cryptocurrency space. This alarming event contrasts sharply with the ongoing legal battle in the case of Fun Yung Li, who is accused of stealing Bitcoin from her husband. For more details, see read more.
