BAYC #9258 has lost almost 80% of its value

Mar 25, 2024

NFT #9258 from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, previously owned by comedian Kevin Hart, was sold on the Blur platform for 13.26 ETH, which equals approximately $46,200. This digital asset had changed several owners before it was sold at a significantly reduced price compared to its original purchase by Hart for 79.5 ETH more than two years ago, which at that time amounted to over $200,000.

The transaction was facilitated through MoonPay, a service that assists celebrities in acquiring NFTs from the BAYC collection in exchange for publicity. Among MoonPay's clients are stars such as Justin Bieber, Madonna, and Jimmy Fallon. In December 2022, a class-action lawsuit was filed against MoonPay, Yuga Labs (the developers of BAYC), Hart, and other celebrities for participating in an undeclared advertising campaign.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of unique digital monkeys on the Ethereum blockchain, each with its own features. This collection not only offers unique digital images but also forms a powerful NFT community, providing its members with exclusive privileges and opportunities.

Owners of NFTs from the BAYC collection gain access to private chats and forums, participation in exclusive events, and the use of their NFTs metadata in various games and services, making ownership of these tokens not just a matter of collecting but also belonging to a unique community.
