Nov 9, 2023

In a groundbreaking shift within the NFT landscape, Bitcoin NFTs emerged victorious over their Ethereum counterparts on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. According to data from cryptoslam.io, Bitcoin-based NFT transactions soared to $17.17 million, surpassing Ethereum NFT sales of $15.77 million within a 24-hour period. This remarkable milestone marks a pivotal moment for the Bitcoin blockchain, demonstrating its expanding capabilities beyond its traditional role as a digital currency.

The burgeoning trend of Bitcoin NFT transactions has witnessed a remarkable upsurge in recent times. Just three days prior to this historic achievement, Bitcoin.com News revealed Bitcoin's ascent to the second-place position in weekly NFT sales. This week, in a groundbreaking first, Bitcoin's Ordinal inscriptions, its distinctive form of NFTs, surpassed Ethereum's sales within a 24-hour period on Wednesday.

NFT aficionado Leonidas, the founder of Ord.io, immortalized this unprecedented event on the blockchain, commemorating the moment when Bitcoin-based NFTs outpaced their Ethereum counterparts for the first time in history. This remarkable milestone underscores Bitcoin's expanding capabilities beyond its traditional role as a digital currency, paving the way for its integration into the rapidly evolving NFT landscape.

After a prolonged lull lasting over a month, Ordinal inscriptions, a unique form of NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain, have witnessed a resurgence in activity. Following a peak in daily mints, the number of new inscriptions struggled until October 24, marking a significant decline. However, the tide has turned, and on November 4, a record-breaking 433,471 new inscriptions were recorded in a single day.

Ethereum NFT sales have also experienced an uptick, with cryptoslam.io reporting a 45.66% increase from the previous week, reaching $79.61 million since Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Bitcoin NFTs have also seen a surge in sales, with a remarkable 661.60% increase from the prior week, reaching $55.52 million.

In a surprising turn of events, the "$SATS BRC-20 NFTs" collection surpassed the renowned Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) series in terms of sales over the past 24 hours, securing the top spot on the sales chart. The "$RATS BRC-20 NFTs" collection followed, claiming the third position. While Bitcoin NFTs have shown remarkable growth, Ethereum maintains a significant lead in sales for the upcoming week, with a current advantage of $24.09 million.

Overall, the NFT landscape continues to evolve rapidly, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum-based NFTs demonstrating resilience and potential for further growth.
