Cardano has taken a significant step forward in its Project Catalyst initiative by launching a new pilot program aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of crypto grant funding. Announced on September 24, 2026, this program seeks to address the prevalent issue of projects failing to achieve actual product usage despite receiving funding, as the publication provides the following information: it focuses on real-world applications to ensure that funded projects deliver tangible results.
Selection of Teams
Out of 117 applications, 12 teams have been selected to participate in this innovative program. The focus areas include:
- stablecoin payments
- lending solutions
- supply chain applications
reflecting the growing demand for practical applications in the blockchain space.
Funding Structure
A key feature of this pilot program is its funding structure: 40% of the grant funding is released immediately upon onboarding, while the remaining funds are tied to the achievement of specific adoption targets. This strategy is designed to incentivize teams to not only develop their projects but also ensure they are actively used in the market, marking a notable departure from traditional grant cycles that often lack accountability for post-deployment success.
Recently, Cardano approved a new round of treasury allocations to enhance infrastructure and ecosystem development, which contrasts with its latest pilot program focused on effective crypto grant funding. For more details, see funding allocations.
