Cardano's stablecoin market has achieved a significant milestone as of October 18, with the total supply of dollar-pegged tokens reaching approximately 702 million. According to the official information, this growth highlights the increasing adoption of stablecoins within the Cardano ecosystem.
Growth of Stablecoins
The recent data reveals a growth of about 31 million stablecoins over the past month, largely driven by USD Coin (USDC), which now constitutes nearly two-thirds of the total stablecoin supply on the network. According to DeFiLlama,
- around 445 million of the total supply is attributed to USDC
- Moneta USDM contributes approximately 135 million
Implications for Trading Activity
Despite this impressive growth in stablecoin supply, it is crucial to understand that an increase in circulating stablecoins does not automatically indicate a rise in trading activity or demand for ADA. While the expansion of stablecoins provides additional dollar-denominated liquidity for Cardano applications, further analysis is required to assess the productive usage of these balances within the ecosystem.
Previously, Cardano (ADA) saw an extraordinary price surge of 62% within 24 hours, driven by key developments and investor interest. For more details, you can read more.
