CoinGecko studied the involvement of fashion brands in the NFT sphere

Jan 16, 2024

Experts from CoinGecko conducted a study and identified the leading global fashion brands in the field of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It turned out that the key player in this area is Adidas, which occupies a leading position among fashion NFT brands in the traditional sewing industry.

As of early 2024, Adidas has released 12 diverse collections of digital assets and created a specialized Three Stripes Studio division for research and development in the Web3 field. The company introduced its first NFT collection "Into the Metaverse" at the end of 2021.

Nike, another well-known traditional brand, has released 9 NFT collections. At the end of 2021, the company acquired the Web3 studio RTFKT, famous for its unique designs and Clone X avatars. After that, the SWOOSH platform was launched, managed by the Nike Virtual Studios team, which presented 6 virtual fashion collections.

Puma ranks third in the ranking of fashion NFT brands, having released 6 collections. Analysts note that luxury brands, including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., and others, are less active in using NFTs, but have already entered the Web3 sector.

According to the study, 21 out of the 50 largest fashion brands in the world, or 42%, have launched their NFTs. Of these, 9 companies presented one digital collection each, and 6 brands released two virtual collections each. Most of them joined the trend in 2021 or 2022. Exceptions were Cartier, The North Face, and Ralph Lauren, which debuted in NFT only in 2023, against the backdrop of a bear market.
