Aave, a leading protocol in decentralized finance (DeFi), has introduced a new human verification feature leveraging zero-knowledge (ZK) technology to promote fairness and enhance user security.
How It Works
The ZK Human Verification feature has been developed in collaboration with Self, a company specializing in zero-knowledge identity solutions. Aave uses zkPoH to verify that each wallet is owned by a single legitimate user without exposing personal data. Verified users can earn double rewards on USDT and WETH deposits, with the integration initially launching on the Celo network.
Why It Matters
Self, launched at EthDenver earlier this year, collaborates with Google Cloud and other firms to implement zero-knowledge identity verification in Web3. This partnership helps combat Sybil attacks, where a single user can manipulate systems with multiple wallets, ensuring that rewards are distributed only to real users.
Growing Real-World Use Cases
Self's technology is also implemented by Google Cloud for its AI-powered search platform. Velodrome utilizes it for identity checks on decentralized exchanges. The integration with Aave marks a significant step in the development of privacy-enhancing tools in DeFi, ensuring security and fairness.
The integration of ZK Human Verification makes DeFi more secure and equitable for users, ensuring that only verified individuals can claim rewards.
