The core developer of Fantom, Andre Cronje, expressed his thoughts on the current challenges being faced by Solana, a situation that was predicted by many in advance. Through his official X account, Cronje emphasized the noticeable rise of criticism towards Solana with the recurring phrase "I told you so," as a response to the recent difficulties faced by the network.
Over the past few months, Solana has suffered from several outages, leading to concerns about its reliability amidst significant growth in its ecosystem. Cronje believes that the high demand for blockspace is posing a significant challenge that requires the resolution of bottlenecks.
Cronje attributes these bottlenecks to engineering issues, clarifying that they are not related to Consensus or any other critical components of Solana. He sees Solana's current problems as a consequence of its successful growth.
Addressing Solana's Challenges
Blockchain networks continually evolve to enhance their performance. Just like Ethereum's transition from a proof-of-work (PoW) to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus model through the Merge, Solana's developers, including co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, are actively working on finding a lasting solution to its congestion problems.
Yakovenko pointed out that fixing Solana's issues might be complex, emphasizing that any bugs affecting network efficiency must undergo rigorous testing phases before integration into the mainnet.
Despite these obstacles, Solana remains one of the most valuable blockchains, with its price showing a 3.55% increase in a 24-hour period, as reported by CoinMarketCap.
