According to a January 7 report by the Wall Street Journal, Lightspeed Venture Partners is leading a funding round for Anthropic, an OpenAI rival. The company was valued at $18 billion in December 2023, suggesting a potential increase of more than 233% in valuation within 12 months.

Amazon and Google made multibillion-dollar investments in Anthropic in 2023 and 2024. Cointelegraph reached out to Anthropic for details regarding the deal but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
