Anthropic, an AI firm, is reportedly in talks to raise $2 billion in funding, which could elevate its valuation to $60 billion.

Current Valuation and Prospects of Anthropic

According to a January 7 report by the Wall Street Journal, Lightspeed Venture Partners is leading a funding round for Anthropic, an OpenAI rival. The company was valued at $18 billion in December 2023, suggesting a potential increase of more than 233% in valuation within 12 months.

Investments by Major Tech Companies

Amazon and Google made multibillion-dollar investments in Anthropic in 2023 and 2024. Cointelegraph reached out to Anthropic for details regarding the deal but did not receive a response at the time of publication.

The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Attention around artificial intelligence software has increased as many fear it could make certain jobs obsolete. One of the AI firms' goals is to develop systems demonstrating artificial general intelligence. According to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, AI could exceed human capabilities as early as 2026 based on the technology's progression.

Anthropic continues to grow and attract significant investments, increasing its valuation and underscoring the importance of artificial intelligence in today's world.
