U.S. Actions
The U.S. government is shuffling around its Bitcoin holdings. Currently, the U.S. is the largest geopolitical holder of Bitcoin, controlling over 200,000 Bitcoins. Recently, at the Bitcoin conference, Presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that if elected, he would ensure the U.S. retains all its Bitcoin reserves. On August 14th, roughly 10,000 BTC were transferred to another wallet. At present, the U.S. government holds approximately 203,000 BTC valued at $12 billion and over 50,000 ETH valued at $134 million.
Norway and Bitcoin
The Central Bank of Norway owns over 1.1 million shares of MicroStrategy, effectively like buying a Bitcoin ETF. Furthermore, Norway's sovereign wealth fund boosted its Bitcoin holdings to 2,446 BTC. This reflects Bitcoin's growing significance in diversified investment portfolios. The expansion of Bitcoin holdings by Norway's central bank signifies Bitcoin's increasing acceptance and prominence in the financial ecosystem.
Russia and El Salvador
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new law regulating crypto mining, marking a significant step in Russia's efforts to leverage digital assets. El Salvador continues its 'Bitcoin City' project with a $1.62 billion investment from Turkish holding company Yilort. The country holds 5,840.76 BTC, worth around $345 million, and continues to add 1 BTC to its reserves daily.
It appears many countries are actively accumulating Bitcoin and taking significant steps to integrate cryptocurrencies into their financial strategies. This underscores the importance of digital assets in the global financial arena.
