The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released data showing that over 4 million Nigerians have registered online for voter cards in the first month. The process continues nationwide.

Overall Registration Statistics

As of September 14, 2025, the number of pre-registered Nigerians reached 4,445,505. Of these, 2,141,294 (48.17%) are male and 2,304,211 (51.83%) are female.

Age Distribution of Registrants

The highest number of online registrations comes from the youth. 2,924,643 individuals aged 18-34 make up 65.79% of the total. They are followed by the middle-aged group (35-49 years) at 22.95% and the elderly (50-69 years) at 10.04%. Those aged 70 and above represent only 1.22%.

State-by-State Registration Status

As of September 14, Osun state leads with 552,045 registrations (12.42%). Following are Lagos with 488,523 (10.99%) and Borno with 439,426 (9.88%). The least registrations were recorded in Enugu, with only 1,839 (0.04%).

Thus, online registration continues to gain popularity among Nigerians, with young individuals representing a significant portion of those registered. While online registration is a convenient method, it is crucial to complete physical registration for it to be valid.
