Damage to Electrical Grids and Criminal Cases

The illegal mining activities have caused damages of over 68 million rubles. The miners connected their equipment to household electricity networks to benefit from discounted rates. Prosecutors have launched a criminal case against the miners for fraud.

Surge in Cryptocurrency Mining in Russia

Russia is setting up special organizations to mine and transfer cryptocurrencies to foreign entities. The Russian president warns that cryptocurrency mining risks overloading Russia’s electrical grid and could lead to power shortages in certain regions.
