Italian bank Banca Sella, established in 1886, has launched a new service on its Hype platform, allowing over 1.2 million users to buy and sell Bitcoin directly through the mobile app.
Service Launch During Lockdown
The service was initially launched during Italy’s COVID-19 lockdown. With traditional banking operations highly disrupted, Banca Sella introduced Hype Plus for a limited number of customers, planning to extend the availability to all users shortly.
Trading Limits
Hype users have trading limits: the annual cap is set at $2,700 for basic accounts and $54,000 for Plus and Premium account holders. The bank highlights that the Bitcoin wallet is free of charge and can be set up in just four steps.
Benefits and Access
Hype users can send Bitcoin to contacts in their address books and spend the currency wherever it is accepted. This functionality is particularly important during the rising interest in cryptocurrency and the exploration of new solutions.
The launch of Banca Sella’s Bitcoin trading service is timely and beneficial for users, especially at a time when traditional banking services have become less accessible.
