On July 30, 2025, BBVA, one of the leading banks in Spain, announced the launch of cryptocurrency trading through a partnership with Bitstamp. Customers can now directly buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Launch of BBVA's Trading Services

As of July 30, 2025, BBVA clients in Spain have access to cryptocurrency trading. This service enables bank users to conduct transactions with Bitcoin and Ethereum directly through the BBVA app.

Partnership with Bitstamp

Bitstamp serves as one of the first liquidity providers for BBVA’s new offerings. The bank’s registration under MiCA ensures adherence to safety and compliance standards in the digital asset market.

Luis Martins, Head of Global Macro Trading at BBVA, stated, "BBVA is proud to expand our offering to meet the evolving needs of our clients." Žiga Kraševec from Bitstamp emphasized that "supporting BBVA in this space marks another step towards integrating crypto services into traditional banking."
