Binance announced the addition of the Bio Protocol project to its Launchpool, boosting interest in DeSci tokens.

Binance and Bio Protocol

Binance has included Bio Protocol in its Launchpool, marking its interest in expanding the DeSci sector. Bio Protocol is the 63rd project to be added, enabling users to farm rewards by staking BNB and FDUSD. Trading for the BIO token is set to begin on January 3, 2025, after a 10-day farming period starting December 24.

BIO Token Distribution

The pool will distribute 99.6 million BIO tokens, which constitutes 3% of the total supply. To prevent unfair allocations, Binance will introduce hourly caps on received BIO. 85 million tokens will be distributed among BNB stakers, while the remaining 14.9% will be allocated to FDUSD holders. The total supply will unlock over six years with a one-year cliff lock for a certain portion.

Development of DeSci Sector

The DeSci sector is still emerging, and the addition of BIO on Binance may lend legitimacy to promising projects. Currently, BIO is a less known asset with fewer than 1,500 holders, but it aims to develop a new niche of DeSci tokens by supporting DAOs focused on longevity, mental health, and bioengineering.

Binance continues to show its interest in the DeSci domain by adding Bio Protocol to Launchpool, aiding the growth in trading volumes of DeSci tokens.
