During the Token2049 conference in Singapore on September 19, Binance CEO Richard Teng asserted that the exchange is committed to securing its executive Tigran Gambaryan from Nigerian custody.
Arrest and Charges
Earlier this year, Gambaryan was arrested over allegations of $26 billion in illegal inflows to Binance. Since his arrest in February 2024, Gambaryan has been facing severe health issues.
Gambaryan’s Health Condition
The executive suffers from a herniated disc and instances of malaria, pneumonia, and tonsillitis. Reports revealed the Nigerian government’s reluctance to provide adequate medical care, causing concern for his family. The Binance CEO raised his voice against the government’s “unjust” handling of the executive.
Binance’s Efforts for Release
Teng stated that due to Gambaryan’s deteriorating health, the company is making all possible efforts for his release, including the formation of a task force working on legal and political avenues.
Binance continues to press for the release of Tigran Gambaryan and ensures he receives medical attention, despite the challenges posed by the Nigerian government.
