Bitdeer Technologies Unveils Energy-Efficient SEAL04 Chip

In a notable move towards advancing Bitcoin mining technology, Bitdeer Technologies has introduced the SEAL04 chip in its latest technology roadmap for the newly launched SEALMINER rig.

Scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2025, the SEAL04 chip is anticipated to achieve exceptional energy efficiency levels as low as 5J/TH (joules per terahash).

As outlined in a recent press release, the roadmap is designed to enhance transparency within the mining industry. It aims to manage miners' expectations regarding technological advancements and equipment delivery while offering valuable data analytics on machine capabilities, inventory status, and purchasing trends.

Revolutionary Energy-Efficient Chip

Bitdeer disclosed that the SEAL04 chip will power the fourth-generation SEALMINER machine, set for mass production and delivery commencing in the fourth quarter of 2025. The machine is optimized to operate with a power consumption range of 5.5-6J/TH, significantly lower than the industry average of 29J/TH.

Bitcoin mining has been grappling with the challenge of high power consumption, prompting companies to intensify efforts towards reducing energy usage. Following its prohibition in Kazakhstan, miners have shifted towards greener energy sources in North America and sustainable off-grid locations.

The introduction of a chip boasting such impressive energy efficiency is poised to mark a substantial leap forward in the cryptocurrency mining sector. This breakthrough chip promises enhanced Bitcoin mining performance coupled with reduced power consumption, leading to cost savings and a diminished ecological footprint for miners.

Advancements in Chip Technology

Earlier this year, Bitdeer heralded the successful initial testing of SEAL01, a 4-nanometer Bitcoin mining chip boasting a power efficiency rating of 18.1 joules per terahash. SEAL01 was deployed in the Sealminer A1 mining rig.

The previous SEAL01 chip was crafted utilizing a 4-nanometer process technology from a semiconductor fabricator. The company asserted that the chip could achieve a power efficiency ratio of 18.1 J/TH.

Chips serve a critical function in cryptocurrency mining as they are responsible for executing the intricate computations necessary to validate and secure transactions on the blockchain.
