Modular Design of Proto Rig
Proto Rig is a modular Bitcoin miner that allows operators to swap individual hashboards instead of replacing entire units. This extends the lifespan of mining hardware from three to five years — up to ten years. This approach reduces upgrade costs by 15 to 20% per cycle. Additionally, tool-free repairs transform processes that once took hours or days into second-long operations.
Efficiency of Proto Fleet
The Proto Rig system delivers 1.5 times the power per foot of rack space compared to traditional methods and works with both modern and legacy infrastructure. Alongside Proto Rig, the company introduced Proto Fleet, which combines power scaling, monitoring, diagnostics, and maintenance tools.
The Future of Mining and Its Challenges
Despite significant costs for equipment, which can exceed ten thousand dollars, mining efficiency remains unpredictable due to variations in electricity prices, mining difficulty, and hardware efficiency. Some miners have also turned to high-performance computing and artificial intelligence to boost income or hold mined Bitcoin in anticipation of potential future increases.
