BlockDAG presents a new blockchain model that combines Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) and Proof-of-Work (PoW) for achieving high performance and security.
Technical Framework: DAG Meets Proof-of-Work
BlockDAG operates as a hybrid Layer-1 blockchain that combines DAG for fast processing and a PoW system for robust consensus. Unlike traditional blockchains that confirm one block at a time, DAG allows multiple blocks to be confirmed simultaneously, reducing delays and increasing capacity. Furthermore, this system requires real computational power, making it secure and tamper-proof.
"BlockDAG is a hybrid PoW-based Layer-1 blockchain, offering a new use of DAG design for quicker and scalable execution," they noted in a keynote.
Developer Ecosystem and EVM Compatibility
BlockDAG is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing teams to use Solidity to build apps and keep using tools like MetaMask, Truffle, or Hardhat. The platform supports both coding and no-code building, making it easy to launch smart contracts, mint NFTs, or create new coins. This allows developers to quickly build dApps without rewriting major parts of their code.
Ecosystem Activity and Real-World Integration
BlockDAG's live testnet already gives users and developers access to the ecosystem. The platform allows mining of BDAG coins via the X1 Mobile Miner app, tracking real-time data through the Blockchain Explorer, and testing smart contracts in a controlled environment. BlockDAG supports large-scale applications, including DeFi tools and NFT platforms. The project has sold over 19,350 miners, generating $7.8 million and preparing for large-scale adoption.
BlockDAG addresses significant challenges in blockchain design by merging the efficiency of DAG with the security of PoW. It delivers speed and usability without technical compromise. With over $383 million raised and billions of coins sold, the project demonstrates strong early momentum for long-term adoption.
