e-Hailing drivers working on the Bolt platform have voiced their dissatisfaction with the company's claims about earnings, asserting that the information is misleading.
Disputed Earnings Data
A recent statement by Bolt, claiming that the top 50 drivers earn an average of N1.6 million monthly, has been met with criticism from drivers. They pointed out that such figures do not reflect the reality and portray drivers unfavorably.
Earnings Analysis
Some drivers emphasized that even when looking at gross income figures, the initial amount cited by Bolt includes commissions and other deductions. One driver remarked: "Maybe they are referring to our colleagues abroad because I have never come close to that sum."
Challenges and Demands on Bolt
Comrade Ayoade Ibrahim, founder of the Amalgamated Union of App-based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON), called on Bolt to disclose real information regarding driver earnings, including operational expenses. He mentioned that inflated figures lead to drivers being at risk of criminal acts.
Drivers demand a more transparent approach to calculating their earnings and urge Bolt to acknowledge all operational costs for a more accurate picture.
