Bitwise has introduced a new Solana ETP product under the ticker BSOL in Europe, offering an annual yield of 6.48%.
Expanding Bitwise's Reach in Europe
The recent launch of BSOL comes after Bitwise's acquisition of the London-based ETC Group. This strategic move allows Bitwise to strengthen its position in the European market interested in crypto-staking opportunities. The company has selected Marinade as its staking provider, known for its role in the Solana ecosystem. Despite typical Solana staking rewards offering around 8%, Bitwise has opted for a 6.48% yield to maintain operational and security standards.
Bridging Staking and ETFs
The introduction of BSOL followed Bitwise's registration of a Solana ETF in Delaware, highlighting the company's ambitions to expand its offerings. Current US regulations do not allow ETFs to include staking rewards, but Bitwise is optimistic about future changes. Under a Paul Atkins-led SEC, changes to securities laws allowing staking rewards in ETFs are possible, providing Bitwise with the prepared infrastructure to benefit from such developments.
Market Competition
Competition in the Solana ETF and staking market is growing. Companies like VanEck, 21Shares, and Canari Capital are also developing similar offerings. VanEck, for instance, plans to launch a Solana ETF in the US by 2025.
Bitwise's expansion into the European market with BSOL demonstrates their commitment to innovation in the cryptocurrency space, despite current regulatory limitations.
