Bybit, the world's second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume, has launched margin trading for European users, offering up to 10x leverage.
Bybit's Margin Trading in Europe
The exchange Bybit has launched margin trading through its European arm, Bybit EU, based in Austria. This service allows users to borrow funds against their crypto holdings as collateral to increase their trading volumes.
Features of the New Service
Margin trading offers, for instance, a trader with $100 the ability to borrow additional funds to conduct a $1,000 trade at maximum leverage. Bybit emphasizes that its product includes safeguards, such as liquidation controls and real-time tracking of interest rates.
Market and Regulatory Reactions
The introduction of margin trading occurs amidst the new MiCA regulations that took effect in 2024. Regulators are concerned about potential risks for inexperienced traders. However, Bybit's launch in the European market may signal that clear regulatory guidance paves the way for the introduction of higher-risk trading products.
The launch of Bybit's margin trading highlights the changes in the regulation of digital asset markets in Europe and opens up new opportunities for traders in the region.
