Dead Rising returns nearly a decade later with a new Deluxe Remaster edition developed by Capcom. This remaster could set the stage for an expansion of the series, depending on its success.
Dead Rising Returns
Dead Rising is a series of action-adventure games created by Keiji Inafune and developed by Capcom in 2006. Over its existence, the series has become one of Capcom’s most successful franchises, selling 16 million copies worldwide. Initially set in fictional cities modeled after American towns like Willamette, Colorado, the first game introduced Frank West, a freelance journalist fighting antagonists during a zombie outbreak.
New Details of Deluxe Edition
Capcom developers have also announced a change in the voice actor for Frank West in the remastered version. Jas Patrick, known for his roles in Octopath Traveler 2, Brawl Stars, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, will now voice Frank. Additionally, the game will include 17 new costumes for Frank and matching mall music, featuring popular designs and sounds from Resident Evil.
Future Plans
Following the release of Dead Rising 4, the franchise took a long hiatus. However, Capcom has recently announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered—a remake of the original game that will feature a graphics overhaul and new features like autosave. The game will reportedly run on Capcom’s RE engine. The developers are already exploring the possibility of expanding the series, contingent on the remake's success.
The return of Dead Rising as a Deluxe Remaster promises to draw attention from both new and old fans of the series. The success of this release could be a pivotal step towards further expanding and developing the franchise.
