CardanoCodex, India's inaugural Cardano Hackathon, is back with a larger vision and broader horizons for 2024. Initially a modest competition, the Hackathon has evolved into a significant platform for engaging developers in India's Web3 sector. This year's event aims to further its impact by fostering partnerships, collaborations, and the growth of Cardano in the Indian tech landscape.
Introduction to CardanoCodex
Launched last year as a three-month initiative to uplift and involve India's diverse developer community, CardanoCodex successfully engaged over 2,000 students and 800 developers. The 2024 edition seeks to expand its reach, inspire innovative ideas, and enhance Cardano's presence and development in India’s Web3 industry.
Vision for CardanoCodex 2024
Supported by Cardano's funding engine Project Catalyst and overseen by Nucast Labs, CardanoCodex 2024 will run from July to September. The event encourages developers across India to connect with Cardano, innovate, and demonstrate their skills to contribute to the advancement of the Cardano ecosystem.
Despite India's significant developer base, the Cardano ecosystem in the country was in its infancy until the previous year. The aim is to position Cardano as a leader in India’s rapidly growing developer community, establishing it as a pivotal player in the tech sector.
New Avenues for Web3 Developers
The Indian Web3 developer community is expanding rapidly, facing increased competition in the EVM domain. Cardano offers a fresh perspective in this evolving landscape, providing user-friendly developer tools that simplify the ecosystem's construction, attracting developers seeking new opportunities. Additionally, Cardano's governance phase, Voltaire, is set to unlock a substantial $1.5 billion ADA treasury, fueling growth and innovation within the ecosystem. Developers can code in major languages like Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, eliminating significant learning barriers.
Innovations for 2024
The extended Hackathon in 2024 includes a nationwide tour with partnerships with key Cardano entities, developer guilds, and exchanges in five cities to host a series of events, workshops, and networking sessions. Roadshows will take place in major cities including Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, culminating in Bangalore with the involvement of leading Web3 venture capital firms.
Rewards and Prospects
Participating teams can look forward to attractive rewards, including:
- 1st Place: 8 Lakhs INR
- 2nd Place: 3 Lakhs INR
- 3rd Place: 1.5 Lakhs INR
Prizes will be distributed in ADA, with the conversion based on an average rate of 0.40 USD. Additionally, the top 10 teams will have access to mentorship and potential funding from the $15 million Project Catalyst Fund, one of the largest decentralized innovation funds globally.
Mentor Network and Collaborations
Participants will benefit from a robust mentor network including IOG, Emurgo Academy, NMKR, CardanoSpot, TrivolveTech, and DCSpark. These mentors will provide guidance and support throughout the Hackathon. Collaborations with major Indian cryptocurrency exchanges like WazirX, CoinDCX, Coinstore, and local Web3 DAOs will enhance the event's impact, fostering innovation within the Cardano ecosystem and the Indian Web3 community.
