Challenges Faced by Stellar and Its Price Analysis
Stellar, a blockchain company primarily focusing on payment solutions, is currently grappling with ecosystem challenges that have significantly impacted the performance of its token.
The value of Stellar's primary token, XLM, has witnessed a notable decline of more than 44% from its peak this year, lagging behind prominent cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Ecosystem Hurdles
With a history spanning a decade, Stellar has encountered difficulties in establishing a significant market presence within the payments sector.
Recent data analysis reveals a surge in stablecoins volume, particularly USD Coin, within the Stellar blockchain, escalating from $6.95 million in the previous December to over $210 million presently. Despite this growth, Stellar lags behind other blockchain networks such as Tron and Ethereum, which boast stablecoin assets exceeding $56 billion and $75 billion respectively.
Furthermore, the rollout of Stellar's new blockchain, Soroban, has encountered challenges in attracting developers. According to DeFi Llama, Soroban houses only four decentralized finance applications (dApps) including LumenSwap, Blend, VNX, and SoroSwap. LumenSwap boasts assets worth over $8.46 million, while Blend holds $1.03 million.
Soroban faces stiff competition in the overcrowded blockchain landscape, with rivals like Base, Arbitrum, and Blast actively vying for market dominance. Notably, Blast, a recent entrant, has amassed assets totaling $1.25 billion, while Base boasts over $1.4 billion.
Stellar Price Evaluation
Despite the prevailing obstacles, Stellar's token price has exhibited several bullish patterns that suggest a potential upward trajectory in the near future.
On the daily chart, the XLM token has formed a falling wedge pattern, a widely recognized sign of a potential reversal. It has surged above the upper boundary of this pattern.
Additionally, the Moving Average Divergence Convergence (MACD) indicator has shown a bullish divergence pattern. Moreover, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has broken above the upper boundary of the triangle pattern. These developments indicate a potential breakout for Stellar Lumens.
However, this optimistic outlook is not without risks. Bitcoin's formation of a double-top chart pattern and a minor rising wedge suggests a bearish breakout. Bitcoin's failure to surpass the critical resistance level at $60,000 following the release of US inflation data indicates a potential drop below $50,000, which could exert downward pressure on altcoins including Stellar.
