Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, sparked speculation about launching a meme coin after revealing he owns a Belgian Malinois dog. The crypto community reacted with an increase in BNB pricing.

Will CZ Launch a Meme Coin?

The speculation started when a user on X (formerly Twitter) asked CZ if he owned a dog. He confirmed he has a Belgian Malinois, not a Shiba Inu, indirectly referencing the Shiba Inu (SHIB) meme coin. Instead of dismissing the idea, CZ openly asked about the meme coin creation process, fueling excitement among crypto traders.

Honest newbie question. How does this work? I share my dog's name and picture, and then people create meme coins? How do you know which one is 'official'? Or does that even matter?CZ on X

Meme Coins Dedicated to CZ’s Dog Already Emerging

Despite CZ not officially launching a token, the crypto community wasted no time in creating their own. One such token, Binance Dog (CZDOG), skyrocketed by 109%, reaching a staggering $8 billion market capitalization within five hours of its launch.

CZ’s Stance on Meme Coins

Historically, CZ has not been a strong advocate of meme coins. In November 2024, he expressed concerns about their speculative nature. However, CZ has recently discussed meme tokens more frequently, especially after incidents involving the TST coin. While he claims to have never purchased meme coins, his recent comments indicate a potential shift in perspective.

I don't mind memes, but meme coins are becoming a bit strange. Let’s develop real applications on the blockchain.Changpeng Zhao

The crypto community eagerly awaits CZ’s next move. If he officially launches a meme coin, it could reshape the meme coin landscape, especially on the BNB Chain.
