An international coalition, including the US and the UK, has accused several Chinese companies of supporting state-linked cyber espionage operations.
Accusations Against Chinese Companies
In a 37-page advisory released on Wednesday, officials named Sichuan Juxinhe Network Technology, Beijing Huanyu Tianqiong Information Technology, and Sichuan Zhixin Ruijie Network Technology as providers of "cyber-related products and services" to Chinese intelligence services.
Scale of Cyber Espionage Activity
According to US officials, the hacking group "Salt Typhoon", linked to Sichuan Juxinhe, executed one of the largest breaches involving sensitive communications data. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, FBI Deputy Assistant Director Brett Leatherman described this activity as "one of the more consequential cyber espionage breaches we have seen here in the United States."
Response Statement and China's Reaction
China has consistently denied allegations that it directs or sponsors cyber espionage activities. Chinese officials have previously stated that such accusations are politically motivated used to justify sanctions and trade restrictions.
Amid growing concerns about cyber threats, the international coalition emphasizes the importance of protecting national security and preventing hacking incidents.
