Losses from Major Hacks in July
CoinDCX was the biggest loser in July with $44.2 million in losses. GMX followed with $42 million but managed to recover its stolen assets later. BigONE ranked third with losses amounting to $28 million.
Recovery of Stolen Funds
The GMX exploiter voluntarily returned about $40.5 million in cryptocurrencies, including 10,000 ETH and 10.5 million FRAX. This recovery reduced the overall monthly losses but highlights ongoing security issues.
Increase in Hacking Incidents in 2025
Hacks in 2025 have totaled over $2.17 billion, surpassing the total losses of 2024. The majority of these losses stemmed from the $1.5 billion ByBit hack.
