In July, more than $755 million worth of cryptocurrency tokens are set to be released as the vesting periods for over 40 projects conclude. The process of crypto vesting restricts early investors and project team members from selling their tokens immediately by locking them in. This strategy aims to avoid sudden price drops during the initial phases of a cryptocurrency venture.

According to Token Unlocks, the leading crypto assets to be unlocked in July 2024 include AltLayer (ALT), Xai (XAI), Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Optimism (OP), Sui (SUI), Immutable (IMX), and Starknet (STRK).

Major Token Unlocks in July

AltLayer, a decentralized protocol, will unlock the largest number of tokens in July. On July 25, AltLayer is scheduled to release 684 million ALT tokens valued at around $125 million. These tokens will be distributed to the team, investors, advisers, protocol development, treasury ecosystem, and community.

Xai, a gaming-focused project, follows with the second-highest release of tokens in July. Approximately $93 million worth of XAI tokens will be unlocked on July 9, allocated to the team, investors, and ecosystem. Additionally, $2 million in tokens are reserved.

The current token price for ALT stands at approximately $0.18, while XAI is valued at $0.46.

Ongoing Token Unlocks

Aptos, which unlocked $101 million in May and $102 million in June, is preparing for another release in July. The project is set to unveil 11.31 million APT tokens worth $77 million. These tokens are designated for the foundation, community, core contributors, and investors.

In recent months, APT's price dropped from a peak of $17.63 on April 1 to $6.99 on June 28, marking a 60% decrease.

Arbitrum, after unlocking $95 million in May and $105 million in June, plans to distribute an additional $75 million in tokens to its team, advisers, and investors on July 16. Earlier, the project issued 1.1 billion ARB tokens worth $2.32 billion on March 16. Since the substantial release, ARB prices have fallen by 63%.

Optimism, Sui, Immutable, and Starknet, which previously unlocked substantial amounts of their native tokens, are also scheduled for similar releases in July.
