Development in Ethereum Spot ETF Applications

Jun 2, 2024

The recent decision by Cathie Wood’s Ark Investment Management to pull out from launching a spot Ether ETF has led to significant changes in the ETF landscape. Ark Invest's name has been removed from the ETF application submitted with 21Shares, prompting 21Shares to rebrand the fund as 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF in an updated application. Consequently, Ark Invest has severed ties with 21Shares in relation to this ETF initiative. The amended Form S-1 filing reveals that the fee structure remains unchanged. Despite acknowledging Ethereum's potential and long-term value, Ark Invest has chosen not to proceed with the Ether ETF, citing the need to reevaluate its investment strategy. It is important to note that this decision does not impact the cooperative projects between 21Shares and ARK Invest, including the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF launched earlier this year.
