Donald Trump's Reaction
According to Trump, he was playing golf with his friends, including businessman Steve Witkoff, when the group heard gunshots. “And I guess probably four or five, and it sounded like bullets, but what do I know about that,” Trump added. He further stated that the Secret Service agent did a fantastic job as they swiftly moved away from the scene.
Charges Against Ryan Wesley
Following the assassination attempt, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, received two gun crime charges. The assailant allegedly pushed his rifle’s muzzle through the club's fences, prompting a Secret Service agent to open fire at him. Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe mentioned that the assailant didn’t have a proper line of sight to Trump and was promptly arrested after fleeing the scene.
