Eigenlayer, a project focused on developing decentralized infrastructure, has launched a new multi-chain verification feature that allows decentralized services to operate on layer-2 networks with Ethereum-grade security.
What is Multi-Chain Verification?
The new feature enables Actively Validated Services (AVS) to run on both Ethereum and layer-2 networks. Eigen Labs launched this capability on the Sepolia testnet on the Base network.
Founder of Eigen Labs Shares Insights
Eigen Labs founder and CEO Sreeram Kannan stated that this update marks a "critical milestone" in the company’s plans. He noted that while the launch is on Base Sepolia, the feature will be available for additional blockchains in the future.
Trends in Blockchain Infrastructure Upgrades
The Eigenlayer update comes amid trends in other blockchains, such as Build on Bitcoin, which recently implemented a technical upgrade, and the Ethereum Foundation, which aims to bring zkEVM to the mainnet.
With the launch of multi-chain verification, Eigenlayer takes a step toward expanding the capabilities of decentralized services, offering developers new ways to operate across various blockchain ecosystems.
